History of Computer

STC Exutel, 1984

The STC Exutel was to be the future of digital, networked communication, bringing together into one unit a phone, directory, diary, notepad, calculator and clock – features that we now expect on even the most basic cellphone. It also incorporated the Viewdata system, which enabled it to display information from a database.

But the Exutel was ahead of its time. It was too expensive to catch on.

This model is currently held at the The Centre for Computing History in Haverhill, UK.
